Course Description

The Occupational Certificate: Mobile Device Repairer is a nationally recognised qualification designed to equip learners with the essential knowledge, practical skills and workplace experience required to repair and maintain mobile communication devices. Registered at NQF Level 4 under the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework and quality assured by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO), this programme prepares learners to competently diagnose, test, service and repair devices such as smartphones, tablets and related mobile equipment. The course combines structured theory modules, intensive hands on practical training and supervised workplace learning to ensure learners gain real industry exposure. Minimum education level: Usually Grade 11 or equivalent (NQF Level 3) qualification. 

Literacy and numeracy: Competence in basic English and mathematics (reading, writing, calculations).

• Formative Assessments – Ongoing written tests, quizzes and practical tasks to monitor understanding of theory and repair techniques.

• Practical Skills Assessments – Hands-on device diagnostics, fault finding, component replacement and reassembly under supervision.

• Workplace Assessments – Logbook completion and evaluation of real or simulated workplace tasks

• Internal Summative Assessment – Final internal assessment conducted by the training provider before external examination.

• External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA) – Final national assessment conducted through a Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) accredited assessment centre.
